Consultant Biography
Professor Howard Branley started at the Whittington Hospital as Consultant Chest Physician in April 2004. He graduated from the University of Liverpool and trained in Respiratory Medicine at St Mary’s, The Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, and Charing Cross Hospitals.
He treats patients with a wide variety of lung conditions such as asthma, COPD, lung cancer, cough, sleep apnoea, and PE, amongst others. His subspecialty interests are sarcoidosis, interstitial lung disease and lung complications of connective tissue disorders. He is a member of the British Thoracic Society Committees for both Rare Lung Diseases and Diffuse Parenchymal Lung Diseases.
He has previously completed the RAF course in General Aviation Medicine (1997) and is both an Associate of the Royal Aeronautical Society plus a Member of the Association of Authorised Medical Examiners. He is also Lead Clinician for Education in the Department of Respiratory Medicine and is involved in the teaching and training of undergraduates, postgraduates and other healthcare professionals.
